Shontaze is the driving force behind Kicking DIS Ability. A proud U.S. Army veteran, devoted mother, and fierce disability advocate, she brings unmatched passion, resilience, and purpose to every aspect of the organization. Inspired by her own journey navigating the world of autism and ADHD with her son, Shontaze founded KDA to bridge the gap between families and the inclusive, understanding support systems they deserve. Her lived experience fuels every initiative — from inclusive playdates and visual learning workshops to emotional support services and community advocacy. Through KDA, she empowers families with tools, connections, & hope  one child, one family, one step at a time.

E’Daniel “Kicks” Smith Jr. is more than a name — he’s the heartbeat of KDA. As a young child living with autism and ADHD, Kicks has faced challenges with courage, joy, and a spirit that inspires everyone around him. His experiences navigating therapies, school systems, and everyday interactions laid the foundation for the organization. Through his laughter, struggles, milestones, and triumphs, KDA was born. His creativity and energy continue to guide the programs we build, the boards we create, and the safe spaces we form for other children just like him.

Community

Impacting our community - Autism & ADHD

At Kicking DIS Ability, we hope to create more than just programs — we aim to build a movement of inclusion, understanding, and genuine connection within our community. Our dream is that families navigating the journey of autism, ADHD, and other neurodiverse needs will no longer feel isolated or unseen. Instead, they’ll find a safe space where their children can thrive, caregivers can breathe, and support is both accessible and heartfelt. Through inclusive playdates, hands-on workshops, emotional support chatlines, and custom-made learning tools, we are breaking down barriers that often separate families from the resources, relationships, and respect they deserve. A nonprofit like KDA brings lasting impact by meeting people where they are — in the real, messy, beautiful moments of raising neurodiverse children — and walking with them every step of the way. It gives families hope, empowers children with tools to succeed, and reminds everyone in our community that different is not less. With compassion at our core, we’re creating a world that embraces every ability, one playdate, one board, one conversation at a time.
